Introduction to the Research Institute
Harbin Institute of Technology Chongqing Research Institute is the first comprehensive local research institute approved by Harbin Institute of Technology in July 2020, serving as the bridgehead for the university's layout in Southwest China.
Adhering to the development philosophy of technology-led, industry-based, and talent-empowered, the institute has been building a four-in-one development pattern integrating Innovation Research Institute + Talent Training Base + Industry Incubation Base + International Cooperation Center. It has successively won many honors such as the Chongqing May 1st Labor Certificate, Five-Star Party Organization of Liangjiang New Area, and Advanced Grassroots Party Organization. In the first-quarter work evaluation of Chongqing's Party-building-led 885 comprehensive management platform, our institute ranked first in the comprehensive assessment among 41 participating new R&D institutions in the city (including introduced universities, enterprises, and institutions such as Jialing River Laboratory, Jinfeng Laboratory, and Mingyue Lake Laboratory).
Relying on the advantageous resources of HIT's one university with three campuses, the institute focuses on fields including aerospace, new materials, new energy, intelligent manufacturing, AI and robotics. It has gathered 7 academician-level experts, 11 foreign experts, 17 national-level talents, and 14 provincial and ministerial-level talents. It has presided over/undertaken 255 various scientific research projects such as the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology High-Quality Special Projects and National Key R&D Programs, with a total project contract value exceeding 500 million yuan and a total received scientific research fund of 155 million yuan. It has undertaken 15 key/major projects in Chongqing (7 as the lead), ranking first among introduced research institutes in Chongqing. It has accumulated 440 patent applications, 248 published academic papers, 43 registered software copyrights, and 67 implemented scientific and technological achievements transformations. It has been approved 26 platforms at or above the provincial and ministerial level, including the National Postdoctoral Research Station, the supporting unit of the National Natural Science Foundation, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology SRDI Industries College, Chongqing High-End Introduced R&D Institution, Overseas Intellectual Workstation, and Mountain Disaster Emergency Equipment Technology Innovation Center.
The Mingyue Lake Lilac Incubator it founded was selected among the first batch of standard-level incubators of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Lilac Advanced Materials Pilot Platform was selected among the first batch of key cultivated pilot platforms of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. There are 93 incubated enterprises in the park, including 1 Chongqing gazelle enterprise, 8 SRDI enterprises, 24 national high-tech enterprises, and 75 science and technology-based enterprises. The comprehensive ranking of innovation and entrepreneurship carriers ranks first in Liangjiang New Area.
It has accumulated 2 approved national-level talents and 10 provincial and ministerial-level talents. It has recruited nearly 500 master and doctoral students in the HIT Chongqing Industry-Education Integration Program for three consecutive sessions, accurately meeting the development needs of Chongqing's emerging industries and future industries. The high-level international journal Electron jointly founded with the university has been selected into the Excellence Journal Action Plan high-start new journal. The China (Chongqing)-Serbia and Malaysia Technology Transfer Centers led and co-built have become important hubs to help Chongqing build the Belt and Road International Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone.
