Research Center Profile

The Urban Water System Research Center is headed by Researcher Wang Panpan, with Academician Ma Jun serving as Chief Scientist. It leads a research team composed of doctors and masters. In collaboration with high-level platforms including the State Key Laboratory of Urban Water Resource and Environment of the School of Environment, Harbin Institute of Technology, and the China-EU Membrane Technology Institute, the center devotes itself to research on advanced water treatment and resource-recycling technologies and equipment, theories and technologies for drinking-water safety guarantee, safety assurance technologies for water supply and drainage pipe networks, and digitalization of water systems.

Core Technologies

The team has established a theoretical and technical system for feed-water pre-oxidation centered on intermediate-valence iron and manganese, enhancing the pollutant-removal efficiency of conventional water-treatment processes. A theoretical system for advanced water-quality purification has been built based on catalytic oxidation of ozone and per-sulfate, improving purification performance for heavily polluted water sources. It has developed the adsorption theory of insituformed nano-particles and the technical system of nano-composite membrane filtration, which plays a vital role in environmental emergency treatment. Through modular design of integrated water-purification equipment empowered by artificial intelligence, precise regulation of water-purification processes under multi-scenario conditions is realized.
