The Digital Economy Center is an innovative research platform established by the Harbin Institute of Technology Chongqing Research Institute to actively respond to the Digital Chongqing initiative and empower the development of the digital economy in the Sichuan-Chongqing region. By integrating multidisciplinary resources covering economics, management, law, public policy and computer science, the center conducts cutting-edge research on digital-economy development planning, market-oriented allocation of data factors, and technology development for new-generation digital-economy infrastructure. It builds an interdisciplinary, compound think-tank team to provide intellectual support for digital-economy advancement. At present, the center has formed an R&D team with 12 HIT experts as its core backbone. Closely aligned with Chongqing’s “33618” modern manufacturing cluster system, the center has delivered a series of landmark digital application achievements with distinct local characteristics of Chongqing in digital government, digital finance and smart-city sectors. Representative outputs include the Yu-Kuai-Ma one-code urban-service platform, the Yu-Ying-Tong digital-Renminbi integrated movie-going platform, the intelligent cooking-fume monitoring platform, and the “Smart Urban Emergency Brain” digital emergency-management system. Meanwhile, the center carries out in-depth research on digital-technology-enabled macro-policy evaluation. Relevant findings have been published in authoritative journals such as E-Government.
