Research Center Profile
Built under the auspices of the Harbin Institute of Technology Chongqing Research Institute, the center is led by Professor Wang Dawei, Member of the European Academy of Sciences. It brings together renowned overseas and domestic scholars as well as young core researchers from RWTH Aachen University, the National University of Singapore, the University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong and Harbin Institute of Technology. Targeting the safety and resilience requirements of transportation infrastructure in mega mountainous cities and the Three-Gorges Reservoir Area, the center focuses on intelligent perception, accurate diagnosis, risk early-warning and rapid repair for infrastructures including roads, bridges, tunnels and underground pipe networks. The team supports Chongqing’s “416” science-and-technology innovation layout and its “33618” modern manufacturing cluster system. It promotes the coordinated development of digital-intelligent technologies, intelligent equipment and polymer composite materials, and contributes to the modernization of urban governance in Chongqing and the cultivation of the high-end equipment-manufacturing industrial chain for transportation infrastructure.
